NYSWDA uses the DOE curriculum which also satisfies the DOE and OSHA requirements for employees working around lead paint. This training is also required for your sub-contractors' employees who work on weatherization units.

The certified person will be responsible for documenting that all work was done in a lead safe manner.
This is a 1-day course with approximately 6 hours classroom and 2 hours hands-on lab work and will include testing at the end of the day. Anyone passing the test will then be considered an EPA Certified Renovator and receive a certification card from the training provider (ATC). This is the first step in getting your Agency Certified as a Firm and it is a requirement of your contract.

Lead Safe Weatherization
This training is for:
All new Weatherization staff, field crews and sub-contractors.
Course Description:
Whenever we work on houses that were built before 1978 there is a good chance that there could be lead based paint on the inside and outside. Disturbing this paint could harm us and the families we work with. This NYSWDA Lead Safe Weatherization Training satisfies the DHCR requirement that all Weatherization staff working in houses built before 1978 receive training on safe work practices to reduce exposure to lead dust. NYSWDA uses the DOE curriculum which also satisfies the DOE and OSHA requirements for employees working around lead paint. This training is also required for your sub-contractors' employees who work on weatherization units.
The following link takes you to DOE Program Notice WPN 02-6 that establishes DHCR's lead policy and the DHCR memo:
