Event Title: BPI Heating Professional Certification Training
Where: NYSWDA Training Center - East Syracuse

Course Description:
This four day course, which includes classroom and heating lab sessions, will prepare you to successfully pass the BPI Heating Professional written and field tests. Using NYSWDA's state-of-the art Heating Lab, attendees will train on 15 of the most common residential heating systems, from 70% efficient atmospheric furnaces to 90%+ efficient two-stage ECM blower furnaces. Additionally, trainees will become knowledgeable on gas and oil-fired hydronic boilers, their controls and components. Attendees will be introduced to system load and sizing concepts, system design, duct system diagnostics, and proper maintenance and efficiency analysis. This is a challenging course, and as such, NYSWDA strongly recommends that attendees hold BPI Building Analyst certification and have strong HVAC experience. After the trainees successfully complete the written portion of the test, we will schedule them to return for the field test.

Topics addressed will include typical manufactured home construction, heating system basics, distribution system evaluation and repairs, belly repair, air sealing and insulation best practices. Because of the large amount of BPI building analyst curriculum incorporated into this training, it is strongly recommended that attendees hold BPI Building Analyst certification and have a good working knowledge of auditing procedures. After the trainees successfully complete the written portion of the test, we will schedule them for the Field test.

Course Description:
This is an introductory course that will teach fundamentals of heating systems and venting combustion appliances. The focus is to provide all personnel working in client homes, the knowledge to identify different classifications of furnaces and boilers. Instruction on health and safety issues for those working on venting systems and an explanation of which materials can be used and which cannot. NFPA venting guidelines will be introduced so that venting safety is built into the thought process. This training will assist technicians in identifying problems, repairing and analysis of venting systems in the field.

This training is for:

Course Description:
Agencies working on 1 - 4 family dwellings will now have a method of ensuring technicians performing WAP heating services have DHCR and DOE specifications on what constitutes a proper heating system clean and tune. Agencies may find the information useful in writing bid proposals, and for inspection of completed work. Heating Subcontractors are urged to attend. This course is useful as a first step into performing heating system clean and tunes in-house.

Course Description:
This intensive 4-day training based at NYSWDA's Energy Efficiency Training Center (Building 2) in East Syracuse, is a great introduction to building science principles and hands-on air sealing, dense pack and loose fill cellulose insulation installation. Using our state-of-the-art realistic wall, ceiling and attic props, trainees will learn the techniques needed to effectively weatherize our clients' homes.

During this course, the trainees will be introduced to both DHCR and BPI standards and regulations on Health & Safety, Lead Safe work practices and safe and proper use of tools and equipment. Trainees will also become proficient on the set up of blower doors and understand basic use of an infrared camera during air sealing operations.

All three DHCR mandatory trainings are covered in this course:

  • Lead Safe Weatherization

Boot Camp

Course Description:
This intensive 4-day training based at NYSWDA's Energy Efficiency Training Center (Building 2) in East Syracuse, is a great introduction to building science principles and hands-on air sealing, dense pack and loose fill cellulose insulation installation. Using our state-of-the-art realistic wall, ceiling and attic props, trainees will learn the techniques needed to effectively weatherize our clients' homes.

During this course, the trainees will be introduced to both DHCR and BPI standards and regulations on Health & Safety, Lead Safe work practices and safe and proper use of tools and equipment. Trainees will also become proficient on the set up of blower doors and understand basic use of an infrared camera during air sealing operations.

All three DHCR mandatory trainings are covered in this course:
  • Air Sealing
  • Health & Safety
  • Lead Safe Weatherization

Event Title: BPI Heating Professional Certification Training

Course Description:
This four day course, which includes classroom and heating lab sessions, will prepare you to successfully pass the BPI Heating Professional written and field tests. Using NYSWDA's state-of-the art Heating Lab, attendees will train on 15 of the most common residential heating systems, from 70% efficient atmospheric furnaces to 90%+ efficient two-stage ECM blower furnaces. Additionally, trainees will become knowledgeable on gas and oil-fired hydronic boilers, their controls and components. Attendees will be introduced to system load and sizing concepts, system design, duct system diagnostics, and proper maintenance and efficiency analysis. This is a challenging course, and as such, NYSWDA strongly recommends that attendees hold BPI Building Analyst certification and have strong HVAC experience. After the trainees successfully complete the written portion of the test, we will schedule them to return for the field test.
