Basic Electricity for the
Weatherization Professional

NYSWDA is presenting a one day basic electrical training course.  With many agencies performing NYSERDA work, and replacing hard wired lighting, staff need some basic electrical knowledge.  Gary DeWitt is presenting a full day course on electrical basics and safety that will be beneficial to all staff.

Do your field crews work on electrical devises during the course of the day?  Hardwire smoke detectors, troubleshoot blown circuits, or wire your insulation blowing machine into a circuit panel?  Maybe they need to run a new cable for a ventilation fan.  Join NYSWDA and your colleagues for a basic course in applied electricity.  Here your personnel will learn the basics to working safely around electrical circuits, identify potentially hazardous electrical circuits, and learn to use the basic functions of electrical test meters.

Several training boards have been developed to provide visual aids in learning the material.  These boards can be powered to enable your crews to learn the proper use of basic electrical meters.  This course will also cover types of common cables used in residences, an overview of applicable sections of the National Electrical Code, types of electrical service panels, how to add additional circuits to an already full circuit panel, and troubleshooting of electric water heaters. 

Bring your questions, and if your crews have electric meters, bring those as well.  This will be an interactive course that will teach the basics of working safely around electricity.  Sign up now at the regional site closest to you.
