Community Action of Greene County, Inc was at Slater’s Smart Shop in Cairo on October 30th. Staff set up an outdoor booth with Community Action balloons and a banner. They wished passersby a Happy Weatherization Day which sparked lots of converstiaons about the program. They handed out outlet insulators and applications to interested homeowners. It was a great effort on a cold and windy day to increase awareness within the community about weatherization. Great job!!
Neighborhood Housing Services of South Buffalo celebrated National Weatherization Day in the City of Buffalo by giving away over 90 FREE furnace filters at their two office locations at 1937 South Park Avenue and 135 Manhattan Avenue. A little over half of the attendees were past WAP clients. It was good to know they were following through on what they had learned about replacing old filters! People that were new and interested in the services received a free filter and brochures about the weatherization program.
Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation and Lemle & Wolff Development Company celebrated Weatherization Day at Academy Street in Inwood. The building showcase spotlighted how affordable housing is preserved and made energy efficient. The property is a rent regulated multifamily building complex of 150 apartments constructed in the mid 1920s. The event featured a tour of the project, a demonstration of wall insulation with sustainable materials and an explanation of heating systems to be converted from oil to gas. A tenant spoke about moving back into the building after the renovation and how happy and grateful she was for the work that was done. See the pictures below!!!
Lewis County Opportunities hosted a Weatherization Day event at the home of one of their recent clients. During the event, Justin Gadbaw, Lewis County's energy auditor, demonstrated the infrared camera and blower door procedures. Michael Talbot, chairman of the Lewis County Board of Legislators attended and is in the center photograph below with Sara the homeowner, and Ann Wolff, displaying Lewis County's Weatherization Day proclamation.
