This intensive 4-day training based at NYSWDA's Energy Efficiency Training Center (Building 2) i n East Syracuse, is a great introduction to building science principles and hands-on air sealing, dense pack and loose fill cellulose insulation insta llation. Using our state-of-the-art realistic wall, ceiling and attic props , trainees will learn the techniques needed to effectively weatherize our c lients' homes.

During this course, the trainees will be introduced to both HCR and BPI standards and regulatio ns on Health & Safety, Lead Safe work practices and safe and proper use of tools and equipment. Trainees will also become proficient on the set up of blower doors and understand basic use of an infrared camera during air seal ing operations.

Please ref erence the WAP Policies and Procedures manual for further details. The abov e-listed trainings are mandatory for the positions stated. If a subgrantee hires a new employee into one of these postions, or a current employee tran sfers into one of these positions, it is mandatory that they receive this t raining within six (6) months of their start date. These mandatory training sessions must be repeated every three (3) years by subgrantee personnel wh o occupy these positions.

Monday - 11:00am - 4:30pm: R esidential Health & Safety Fundamentals
Day Two
Tuesday - 9:00am - 4:30pm: Introduction to Building Science and Air Sealing Techniques, intr oduction to infrared cameras, introduction to basic residential framing det ails with an emphasis on common air sealing areas and building codes requir ements for clearance to combustibles.
Day Three
Wednesday - 9:00am - 4:30pm: Lead Safe Work Pra ctices

Day Four
Thur sday - 9:00am - 3:00pm: All day lab session tool/equipment safety, lead saf e jobsite setup, air sealing techniques, dense pack and loose fill cellulos e installation techniques. Afternoon lab session: fundamentals of blower do or setup and operation, plus jobsite and lead safe cleanup skills, training skills review, question and answer session, awarding of Certificates of Co mpletion
