Course Description ;
This intensi ve 4-day training based at NYSWDA's Energy Efficiency Training Center (Buil ding 2) in East Syracuse, is a great introduction to building science princ iples and hands-on air sealing, dense pack and loose fill cellulose insulat ion installation. Using our state-of-the-art realistic wall, ceiling and at tic props, trainees will learn the techniques needed to effectively weather ize our clients' homes.

During this course, the trainees will be introduced to both HCR and BPI standards and regulations on Health & Safety, Lead Safe work practices and safe and prope r use of tools and equipment. Trainees will also become proficient on the s et up of blower doors and understand basic use of an infrared camera during air sealing operations.

P lease reference the WAP Policies and Procedures manual for further details. The above-listed trainings are mandatory for the positions stated. If a su bgrantee hires a new employee into one of these postions, or a current empl oyee transfers into one of these positions, it is mandatory that they recei ve this training within six (6) months of their start date. These mandatory training sessions must be repeated every three (3) years by subgrantee per sonnel who occupy these positions.

Day One
Monday - 11:00am - 4:30pm: Residential Health & Safety Fundamentals
Day Two
Tuesday - 9:00am - 4:30pm: Introduction to Building Science and Air Sealing Techniques, int roduction to infrared cameras, introduction to basic residential framing de tails with an emphasis on common air sealing areas and building codes requi rements for clearance to combustibles.
Day Three
< p>Wednesday - 9:00am - 4:30pm: Lead Safe Work Practices
Day Four
Thursday - 9:00am - 4:00pm: All day lab session tool/equipment safety, lead safe jobsite set up, air sealing techniques, dense pack and loose fill cellulose installatio n techniques. Afternoon lab session: fundamentals of blower door setup and operation, plus jobsite and lead safe cleanup skills, training skills revie w, question and answer session, awarding of Certificates of Completion
