Course Description;
This intensive 4-day training based at NYSWDA's Energy Efficiency Training Center (Buildi ng 2) in East Syracuse, is a great introduction to building science princip les and hands-on air sealing, dense pack and loose fill cellulose insulatio n installation. Using our state-of-the-art realistic wall, ceiling and atti c props, trainees will learn the techniques needed to effectively weatheriz e our clients' homes.

During this c ourse, the trainees will be introduced to both HCR and BPI standards and re gulations on Health & Safety, Lead Safe work practices and safe and pro per use of tools and equipment. Trainees will also become proficient on the set up of blower doors and understand basic use of an infrared camera duri ng air sealing operations.

Please reference the WAP Policies and Procedures manual for further de
tails. The above-listed trainings are mandatory for the positions stated. I
f a subgrantee hires a new employee into one of these postions, or a curren
t employee transfers into one of these positions, it is mandatory that they
receive this training within six (6) months of their start date. These man
datory training sessions must be repeated every three (3) years by subgrant
ee personnel who occupy these positions.
Agenda;
Day One
Monday - 11:00am - 4:30pm: Residential Health & Safety Fundamentals
Day Two
Tuesday - 9:00am - 4:30pm: Introduction to Building Science and Ai r Sealing Techniques, introduction to infrared cameras, introduction to bas ic residential framing details with an emphasis on common air sealing areas and building codes requirements for clearance to combustibles.
Day T hree
Wednesday - 9:00am - 4: 30pm: Lead Safe Work Practices
Day Four
Thursday - 9:00am - 4:00pm: All day lab session tool/equi
pment safety, lead safe jobsite setup, air sealing techniques, dense pack a
nd loose fill cellulose installation techniques. Afternoon lab session: fun
damentals of blower door setup and operation, plus jobsite and lead safe cl
eanup skills, training skills review, question and answer session, awarding
of Certificates of Completion.

Other Notes:
Due to the nature of the training, all attendees will be required
to sign a waiver of liability and a photo/video release form at the start
of the training.
