Boot Camp
Training will be available to those in NY whose reg
ions have been designated for Phase Three. If your NY region is still in Phase Two
, you will not be allowed to attend training until your region attains Phas
e Three status. Trainees from other states will
need to provide documentation that shows their respective regions have been
cleared for training.
As part of the COVID-19 state and federal protocols, NYSWDA has
developed a Safety Plan to ensure the safety of you and your staff.
Below are listed the measures being taken to secure the safety of your staf
f as well as ours.

Course Descript
ion;
This inten
sive 4-day training based at NYSWDA's Energy Efficiency Training Center (Bu
ilding 2) in East Syracuse, is a great introduction to building science pri
nciples and hands-on air sealing, dense pack and loose fill cellulose insul
ation installation. Using our state-of-the-art realistic wall, ceiling and
attic props, trainees will learn the techniques needed to effectively weath
erize our clients' homes.

During this c ourse, the trainees will be introduced to both HCR and BPI standards and re gulations on Health & Safety, Lead Safe work practices and safe and pro per use of tools and equipment. Trainees will also become proficient on the set up of blower doors and understand basic use of an infrared camera duri ng air sealing operations.

Please referenc e the WAP Policies and Procedures manual for further details. The above-lis ted trainings are mandatory for the positions stated. If a subgrantee hires a new employee into one of these postions, or a current employee transfers into one of these positions, it is mandatory that they receive this traini ng within six (6) months of their start date. These mandatory training sess ions must be repeated every three (3) years by subgrantee personnel who occ upy these positions.

Day Two
Tuesday - 9:00am - 4:30pm: Introduction to Building Science and Air Sealing Techni ques, introduction to infrared cameras, introduction to basic residential f raming details with an emphasis on common air sealing areas and building co des requirements for clearance to combustibles.
Day Three< /span>
Wednesday - 9:00am - 4:30pm: Lead Safe Work P ractices
Day Four
Thursday - 9:00am - 4:00pm: All day lab session tool/equipment safety, lead safe jobs ite setup, air sealing techniques, dense pack and loose fill cellulose inst allation techniques. Afternoon lab session: fundamentals of blower door set up and operation, plus jobsite and lead safe cleanup skills, training skill s review, question and answer session, awarding of Certificates of Completi on.
