Course
This intensive 4-day training based at NYSWDA's Energy Efficiency Tr
aining Center (Building 2) in East Syracuse, is a great introduction to bui
lding science principles and hands-on air sealing, dense pack and loose fil
l cellulose insulation installation. Using our state-of-the-art realistic w
all, ceiling and attic props, trainees will learn the techniques needed to
effectively weatherize our clients' homes.

During this course, the trainees will be introduced to both HCR and BPI standards and regulations on Health & Safety, Lead Safe work practices and safe and proper use of tools and equipment. Trainees will also become proficient on the set up of blower doors and understand basic use of an inf rared camera during air sealing operations.

< p>All three HCR mandatory trainings are covered in this course: < /p>< span style="font-family: Tahoma, sans-serif; color: black; font-size: 12pt; ">Please reference the WAP Policies and Procedures manual for further detai ls. The above-listed trainings are mandatory for the positions stated. If a subgrantee hires a new employee into one of these postions, or a current e mployee transfers into one of these positions, it is mandatory that they re ceive this training within six (6) months of their start date. These mandat ory training sessions must be repeated every three (3) years by subgrantee personnel who occupy these positions.
Day One
Monday - 11:00am - 4:30pm: Residential Health & Safety Fundamentals
Day Two
Tuesday - 9:00am - 4:30pm: Introduction to Building Science and A ir Sealing Techniques, introduction to infrared cameras, introduction to ba sic residential framing details with an emphasis on common air sealing area s and building codes requirements for clearance to combustibles.

Wednesday - 9:00am - 4:30pm: Lead Safe Work Practices
Day Four
Thursday - 9:00am - 4:00pm: All day lab session tool/equipment safet y, lead safe jobsite setup, air sealing techniques, dense pack and loose fi ll cellulose installation techniques. Afternoon lab session: fundamentals o f blower door setup and operation, plus jobsite and lead safe cleanup skill s, training skills review, question and answer session, awarding of Certifi cates of Completion.
