Course<
/span> Description;
This intensive 4-day training based at
NYSWDA's Energy Efficiency Training Center (Building 2) in East Syracuse, i
s a great introduction to building science principles and hands-on air seal
ing, dense pack and loose fill cellulose insulation installation. Using our
state-of-the-art realistic wall, ceiling and attic props, trainees will le
arn the techniques needed to effectively weatherize our clients' homes.

During this course, the trainees will be i ntroduced to both HCR and BPI standards and regulations on Health & Saf ety, Lead Safe work practices and safe and proper use of tools and equipmen t. Trainees will also become proficient on the set up of blower doors and u nderstand basic use of an infrared camera during air sealing operations.

Please reference the WAP Policies and Proced ures manual for further details. The above-listed trainings are mandatory f or the positions stated. If a subgrantee hires a new employee into one of t hese postions, or a current employee transfers into one of these positions, it is mandatory that they receive this training within six (6) months of t heir start date. These mandatory training sessions must be repeated every t hree (3) years by subgrantee personnel who occupy these positions.

Tuesday - 9:00am - 4:30pm: Introduct ion to Building Science and Air Sealing Techniques, introduction to infrare d cameras, introduction to basic residential framing details with an emphas is on common air sealing areas and building codes requirements for clearanc e to combustibles.

Wednesday - 9:00am - 4:30pm: Lead Safe Work Practices
Day Four
Thursday - 9:00am - 4:00pm: All day lab session tool/equipment safety, lead safe jobsite setup, air sealing techni ques, dense pack and loose fill cellulose installation techniques. Afternoo n lab session: fundamentals of blower door setup and operation, plus jobsit e and lead safe cleanup skills, training skills review, question and answer session, awarding of Certificates of Completion.
