Description;
Th
is intensive 4-day training based at NYSWDA's Energy Efficiency Training Ce
nter (Building 2) in East Syracuse, is a great introduction to building sci
ence principles and hands-on air sealing, dense pack and loose fill cellulo
se insulation installation. Using our state-of-the-art realistic wall, ceil
ing and attic props, trainees will learn the techniques needed to effective
ly weatherize our clients' homes.

Durin g this course, the trainees will be introduced to both HCR and BPI standard s and regulations on Health & Safety, Lead Safe work practices and safe and proper use of tools and equipment. Trainees will also become proficien t on the set up of blower doors and understand basic use of an infrared cam era during air sealing operations.

Please reference the WAP Policies and Procedures manual for further details. The a bove-listed trainings are mandatory for the positions stated. If a subgrant ee hires a new employee into one of these postions, or a current employee t ransfers into one of these positions, it is mandatory that they receive thi s training within six (6) months of their start date. These mandatory train ing sessions must be repeated every three (3) years by subgrantee personnel who occupy these positions.

Day Two
Tuesday - 9:00am - 4:30pm: Introduction to Building Science and Air Sealin g Techniques, introduction to infrared cameras, introduction to basic resid ential framing details with an emphasis on common air sealing areas and bui lding codes requirements for clearance to combustibles.
Day Three
Wednesday - 9:00am - 4:30pm: Lead Saf e Work Practices

Day Four
Th ursday - 9:00am - 4:00pm: All day lab session tool/equipment safety, lead s afe jobsite setup, air sealing techniques, dense pack and loose fill cellul ose installation techniques. Afternoon lab session: fundamentals of blower door setup and operation, plus jobsite and lead safe cleanup skills, traini ng skills review, question and answer session, awarding of Certificates of Completion.
