Training Location: NYSWDA Training Center (Building 1) – 5869 Fisher Road, East Syracuse, NY 13057

This training is for:

Energy Auditors and Building Analysts, Home Performance contractors, builders, remodelers, and home improvement contractors, HVAC technicians, Code officials, home inspectors, and Energy Raters.

Course Description:

NYSWDA's ASHRAE 62.2 training provides a foundational understanding of the new ventilation standards. The course curriculum is suitable for those in the weatherization and building performance industry and for those seeking a better understanding of ventilation requirements and techniques to achieve compliance such as code enforcement officials, architects, engineers, and HVAC contractors.

The course begins with explanations of how to calculate ASHRAE 62.2 ventilation needs and how to identify types of ventilation needs and how to identify types of ventilation systems and fan controls. "Hands on" instruction on measuring fan flow using a Minneapolis DG-700 digital manometer along with the Flow Blaster & Exhaust Fan Flow Meter will also be provided in NYSWDA's state-of-the-art Pressure House. Students will take a written test to demonstrate their understanding of calculating ventilation needs, control setups, and measuring performance of ventilation systems.

Weatherization field staff:  With the recent changes in HCR policy regarding spot ventilation and whole house ventilation requirements and the changes to HCR's 62.2 calculator to meet these requirements, it is important that WAP field staff understand how to effectively implement HCR's new policies.  For a clear, concise and practical understanding of the new changes, please attend this course.
